Wheaton, Ill. (10/11) – Wheaton College senior Chaz Black has been named the CCIW “Player of the Week” on offense and teammate Andy Studebaker has been recognized as the CCIW “Player of the Week” for defense. The duo was also named to D3Football.com's "Team of the Week". Black and Studebaker each earned the honors for their efforts in Wheaton's 31-19 victory against North Central last Saturday. Wheaton is now 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in CCIW play.

Black played a key role in Wheaton 's come-from-behind 31-19 victory against North Central on Saturday. Black carried the ball 25 times for 191 yards as he averaged 7.6 yards per carry with two touchdown runs. The team captain helped his team rally from a 13-0 halftime deficit with 174 rushing yards on 20 carries in the second half. He sparked the Thunder rally with a 56-yard touchdown to cut the Cardinals' lead to 13-7. He gave the Thunder a 17-13 lead with 3:28 left in the third quarter when he scored on a 13-yard touchdown run. Black carried the ball five times for 26 of Wheaton 's 31 yards on the six-play drive.

Black leads Wheaton and the CCIW with 621 rushing yards this season on 105 carries. He has five touchdown runs this year and has averaged 5.91 yards per carry. This is the second time Black has been recognized as a member of the D3Football.com "Team of the Week". Last season he was a member of the "Team of the Week" following a 205-yard rushing performance against Carthage in week nine.

Andy Studebaker, a defensive end for the Thunder, recorded a career-best three quarterbacks sacks for -28 yards in Wheaton 's win against the Cardinals last Saturday. Two of Studebaker's quarterback drops came in the second half as he helped spark the Thunder rally after halftime. He recorded four solo tackles in the game, including the three sacks and also added five quarterback hurries.

Studebaker, who is ranked second in this week's NCAA Division III statistical rankings, has a CCIW-best 11-1/2 sacks this season for -99 yards. He has recorded 16 tackles, with 14 solo stops and a team-best 10 quarterback hurries. This week's selection marks the third time Studebaker has earned CCIW “Defensive Player of the Week” honors. He also earned the recognition on September 9, following Wheaton 's season-opening win against Albion and on September 24, 2005.
